He is making perfect sense out of a perfectly senseless, messed up life!

I HAVE TO BELIEVE

I ALWAYS love this song no matter how old it gets in the mind, it still rings true in the heart!

*Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

I don’t know how else to be. After the 28 years since I finally fell, I know no other way but to run to Him! My past is was so sorted and scary that I am so thankful that He has given me this in my heart, that I know nothing else to do but to run to Him.

This whole heart thing started out with a trip to Pennsylvania to see my step-son (son in our eyes) get married and I ended up in the hospital with a diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure. And my mouth fell to my chest!

I had not had anything close to this in my life. Even though I smoked for 33 years (quitting in 2007), I had been a swimmer my entire life and I swam better under water than on top. The last I knew I could hold my breath for 2 ½ pool lengths. And here I was with Congestive Heart Failure that included such awful Shortness of Breath. And my life changed drastically!

*Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”

I ran to Him. The days continued when we got home with more attacks. Sleeping with a large foam wedge to keep me sitting way up at night while sleeping since otherwise I would end up wheezing and go into heart failure. And, finally a Cardiologist who ordered more testing to end up finding out that I’d had a heart attack. I’d had a heart attack? This was definitely not something that I expected to hear!

And I saw a photo posted on Facebook that struck a chord with me, this time:

Praying is all that I’ve known to do. I’d lie in bed and just talk to Him, telling Him all my thoughts. I was so bewildered. How did this happen? Why did this happen? Why did He let this happen?

And now I had to have a Cardiac Catheter (which had frightened me since working at the hospital in the 1990’s). And with the upcoming holidays this had to wait and I had to be maintained with God and their medicine?

And, life goes on. Two days before Christmas my husband came home with a fever higher than 102. He ended up having Cellulitis in his left leg. This is blood poisoning and if not treated, deadly. I sat watching Christmas movies for days by myself. We did finally have a couple of hours of Christmas time on Christmas night where we got to open presents but he still was not eating yet. All plans cancelled with family.

We did finally get together with family the night before my Cardiac Catheter was scheduled.

*Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”

My husband’s last trip to the Emergency Room was on the night that I had Cardiac PCI surgery.

We need to back up a bit to the day of my Cardiac Catheter. I went through the procedure with numerous prayers coming from all over. They only sedate you for this procedure. They don’t put you all the way out. I have learned to pray as much as possible even to the point of thinking “Thank You Lord. Praise You Lord. Thank You Lord. Praise You Lord.” Continuously through the procedure when my mind is too occupied by the sedative. In no time it was over with yet I was immediately told that my heart was a mess with many blockages plus a part was either dead or sleeping with no assurance that it will awaken until blood flow is restored. I was told that I needed open heart surgery and I was given an appointment to see a Cardiac surgeon more than 2 weeks later. (How bad did you have to be to get more immediate attention? Sounded pretty bad to me.) and I was sent home.

I went home to “take it easy” without knowing for sure exactly what that was. But, I was tired so I relaxed on the bed even napping before my hubby got off work. Going to sleep later was a different story. I’d slept maybe an hour when I awoke abruptly with shortness of breath that would not let up so I went to the couch then soon I was calling 911. I was taken to the heart hospital by rescue squad that I’d been to hours earlier for the Cardiac Catheter. It wasn’t long before they’d found that I had fluid filled lungs (more than likely from a weakened heart and lungs) and it was thought that I should see the surgeon sooner to get the ball rolling for surgery. This was on a Tuesday. They shared reasons why they felt I was not eligible for open heart surgery and why stenting (PCI – multiple stent surgery) was more probable. (Hallelujah).

Numerous tests were then ordered to determine my physical situation to withstand surgery.

Finally, the PCI was scheduled for Friday. I woke up that morning, looked on the white board in my room that lists my nurse, patient tech, objectives for the day, etc… and I saw:

I had to laugh yet I knew that this was a God thing. In AA in Ohio they had a saying that ‘coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous’. I love things like this and He knows it!

Before long, I was in the Cath Lab, the procedure was done and aside from a few muscle spasms in my right arm that were all totally part of me, it went off without a hitch. I ended up being in the hospital until the following day when I was discharged.

The most significant thing I posted to Facebook after getting home?

“I must be honest! I am scared! Prayers please! I just prayed with Joe telling Him that I know that He knows what we need! In the past I had trust issues yet I always trusted Him to clear up those issues! That is how I feel today! I am an altered me! But I know He will teach me how to get through this! And, healing for my right wrist that is still aching from the procedure!

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

I am moody. I have trouble looking at all the housework around me that I can’t fully do. I’m recuperating and awaiting a cardiologist appointment next week but all of this is in God’s hands.

UPDATE:  I've had 2 doctor's appointments since the stents were placed.  My breathing has already improved and has been confirmed by these doctors.  I am in the process of waiting to have my Cardiac Rehabilitation approved by my insurance.  I am feeling stronger almost daily!  All thanks and praise to Him who ONLY deserves it!  Hallelujah!

HE'LL NEVER WALK AWAY

I keep apologizing over and over for not posting. I feel so sorry and I truly miss writing but this year has been a blessing and a curse. Yet, I am still here BECAUSE He never walks away.

There has been much going on to keep me from my love of writing but we have been in a transitional period that may aid in the possibility of this happening even less in the future. Not only was my long-term disability denied that is an insurance policy that I have through my previous employer but it necessitated us to dig deeper and pray harder about our current circumstances in the midst of several bouts of illness that left me understanding David in Psalms quite a bit more.

In March I went through the onset of Vertigo along with some other symptoms which explained even more of why my contribution to society must be based solely on God and His help. This was 11 days of the worset vertigo which also included an inner ear infection caused me to experience so many side effects that were similar to what I experienced for 6 years as a result of being put on the Decadron for the brain lesions in 2001. It’s horrid. Ask anyone experiencing vertigo and they will tell you that it make you feel as if you’re dying. The world spins and it started in the pit of my stomach and rose up through my brain. I was mad! I was mad at God, directly, like I’d never experienced in life before. I, very abashedly now, screamed at Him asking Him why He didn’t kill me off when He had the chance (like He doesn’t always?) back in 2001. But, when I calmed down and asked Him why He was still there when I’d been such a brat, I heard in that still, small voice “I still love you”. And after this horrendous spell with the vertigo I realized that my trust was stronger in Him. And, I understood that while I was unleashing my honest anger with Him, I was also trusting in my heart that He would never leave me nor forsake me.

*Deuteronomy 31:6b “…He will not leave you nor forsake you.”’

And, it was proven and it grew my faith.

*Psalm 27:10 “When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.”

I think this verse means, in general, father and mother being someone or those people who you believe to be as close as a father and mother. Your loved ones.

I yelled “stupidly” at Him and He stayed, loving me all along.

1 Peter 4:12-13 (TLB) “Dear friends, don’t be bewildered or surprised when you go through the fiery trials ahead, for this is no strange, unusual thing that is going to happen to you. Instead, be really glad—because these trials will make you partners with Christ in his suffering, and afterwards you will have the wonderful joy of sharing his glory in that coming day when it will be displayed.”

This is not just some gibberish. And, the feeling is as if it’s all never going to end, but it will. And it is in His time, not ours.

I can’t seem to help but think that sometimes I see a blessing for my future and it just seems to take so many trials to finally get to seeing it in fruition. To explain, God has been showing me things that I thought weren’t really ever going to happen because I expected them to happen in my time. BUT, I just believed and still do:

*Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

I told you that we realized the need to pray more about our current circumstances. We have been praying for a good year or longer about our living arrangements. Actually indirectly I’m sure that it’d been for quite a bit longer since we are always praying for Him to direct us, for us to remain on His path. Much has fallen into place in the last couple of months. I will share more in future posts but to make a long story short, we have been miraculously moved. So many things fell together just right to produce this move that the only way to shorten this to less than book form is to tell you that we have moved to Christian Retreat in Bradenton and are in the process of getting unpacked and settled. With more to come.

Just thought I’d share that our pastor told us that we should print out Psalm 91 and attach it to our front doors. I’m actually attaching it to the front and back doors.

Psalm 91
Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a]
And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

A Weekend to Talk About – Part 2 – 2012

Even though it is now Tuesday I had some revelations from the Holy Spirit while baking No Sugar Added Oatmeal Cranberry cookies (partially my own recipe). I knew this had to be connected to that writing somehow since it is still on the subject of afflictions. How do we know what God’s definition of healing is? Are these definitions of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge any different than what we might say?

*Proverbs 3: 19, 20 “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth;
By understanding He established the heavens;
By His knowledge the depths were broken up,
And clouds drop down the dew.”

I believe that I’m learning more and more that He gives us what we need as His uniquely made individuals:

*Philippians 4:19 “ And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

And, we all know:

*Proverbs 3:5, 6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”

I was listening to Kutless’ new album “Believer” which is totally wonderful and I find more and more to love about it all the time. There is a song on there that particularly started speaking to me a couple of weeks ago called “Even If” and the lyrics are:
Even If
Believer
by Kutless

Sometimes all we have to hold on to
Is what we know is true of who You are
So when the heartache hits like a hurricane
That could never change who You are
And we trust in who You are

Even if the healing doesn’t come
And life falls apart
And dreams are still undone
You are God You are good
Forever faithful One
Even if the healing
Even if the healing doesn’t come

Lord we know Your ways are not our ways
So we set our faith in who You are
Even though You reign high above us
You tenderly love us
We know Your heart
And we rest in who You are

You’re still the Great and Mighty One
We trust You always
You’re working all things for our good
We’ll sing your praise

You are God and we will bless You
As the Good and Faithful One
You are God and we will bless You
Even if the healing doesn’t come
Even if the healing doesn’t come

A Pinball or not? "IN THE FACE OF IMPOSSIBILITIES" - Commentary & devotional share

     I get this devotional from David Wilkerson Ministries every morning and God speaks to me so much through them that I read them almost every day and share them in the Notes section on Facebook but God spoke to me so strongly through this one and I believe I’m supposed to share it with all of you.

     Lately my life has been turned upside down but also I finally got it all surrendered to Him and now I’ve had a couple of days of pure joy. To explain a little: I was ill last week, then I lost a crown before even feeling totally better. The combination of it all along with me being at home alone most days for more than a week, even with my husband going to Tampa without me for the weekend and on and on, had left me in a real slump. I’m always still praising and thanking the Lord (never go that far away – all praise and glory to Him) but I, too, am human. I’ve got a past history of wanting to just keep isolating myself and going into a raging fit like a lunatic, slamming doors & yelling until I finally give up and give it all to Him. (Thank the Lord it seems that anymore when I have these spells of weakness He seems to keep everyone away….oh am I thankful). Well, while reading this devotional, I had a vision in my mind’s eye of a pinball machine. Please think of this while reading this devotional and comment to me, if you will, please:

IN THE FACE OF IMPOSSIBILITIES

“Being not weak in faith, (Abraham) considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb” (Romans 4:19).

The essence of true faith is found in this single verse. God had just promised Abraham he would have a son, one who would become the seed of many nations.  Remarkably, Abraham didn’t flinch at this promise, even though he was well past the age of siring children. Instead, when Abraham received this word from the Lord, we’re told he “considered not his own body now dead (nor)…the deadness of Sarah’s womb.”

To the natural mind, it was impossible for this promise to be fulfilled. But Abraham didn’t dwell on any such impossibility. According to Paul, the patriarch gave no thought to how God would keep his promise. He didn’t reason with God, “But, Lord, I have no seed to plant. And Sarah has no life in her womb to conceive. My wife is past the ability to bear children. So, how will you do it, Lord?” Instead of entertaining such questions, Abraham simply “considered not.”

The fact is, when God is at work producing a faith that is tried and better than gold, he first puts a sentence of death on all human resources.  He closes the door to all human reasoning, bypassing every means of a rational deliverance.

The faith that pleases God is born in a place of deadness.  I’m speaking here of the deadness of all human possibilities.  It is a place where man-made plans flourish at first and then die.  It is a place where human hopes bring temporary relief but soon crash, adding to a sense of helplessness.  Have you been at this place of deadness?  Has it seemed you have no options left?  You can’t call someone to advise you.  The heavens are like brass when you pray, your requests falling to the ground.

I declare to you, this is God at work. His Spirit is working to get you to stop considering the impossibilities—to stop looking to human ways and means—to stop trying to think your way out of your situation. The Holy Ghost is urging you,
“Quit hunting for help from some man. And quit focusing on how hopeless you think your situation is. Those are hindrances to your faith.”
by David Wilkerson

One Healing Amongst Many – 2011 + UPDATE 2013

Thanks to the Lord I have been healed of much.  I truly have trouble hearing people putting limits on what God can do because I know I was saved at 13 but had no clue as to His un-limitless power until I was arrested for selling LSD at 28 and I rededicated my life to Him. I had no doubts that I was a Christian with a Christian upbringing but there was so much concentration on ritual and condemnation and not on God’s love, God’s power, God’s mercy, etc.   I’ve shared about finding this scripture:

*Romans 2:4 “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?”

Over and over again He has healed me mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and of which so much has happened that I’m not quite sure where to start. It would take much more time to write than I have time to do, that’s for sure. He has healed me from old hurtful memories, lesions in my brain, epilepsy, and every month or two I find some other malady that has left me!  He is forever at work restoring to me the years that the locusts ate

*Joel 2:25a “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten,”

But, I do believe I am to share about the His healing from fear of which I had many

*1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

I had so very much fear in my life that once again, I hardly know where to start. I know that I had several that had been manifested as actual phobias to the point where I was at a meeting for Christian artists and when we went around the room and had to just give our names and a little about ourselves my heart thumped loudly and as it was my turn, my view of the room changed to fog and faces flying at me out of this fog.  This happened just a few years ago even after our move to Florida and I was unsure about what to do about it.  That was a horrifying experience for me that nearly led me to believe that I had some kind of mental disorder (not that God couldn’t heal me anyway but it was that awful).

I had a fear of speaking in front of people for as long as I could remember.  When I prayed as a child (4-5 or so years old) I was chastised for not doing it right which is where I believe this whole fear started. A child should never be chastised for not praying right but:

*Ephesians 6:4 “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."

Not long after this experience with the other artists, I was prayed for at church.

The following day it came time to bless our lunch and I quickly offered to say the prayer with no fear involved whatsoever and I noticed a big difference in how I felt.

It wasn’t until a few months or even a year or later (May, 2009) that I noticed a other differences.  I’d had a tremendous fear of heights since I was a child and nearly had a fatal fall.  This day we were at an amusement park on the sky ride and I looked down and instead of seeing the ground swimming and awkward beneath us, I SAW THE ACTUAL GROUND!  I remarked over and over about this as it’d been a good 40 years since I’d been higher up and looked down seeing the ground with any kind of normalcy!  I also rode rides along with a couple of larger roller coasters that day!

After sharing the fact that I was riding roller coasters with our pastor he asked me if I would give a testimony to that fact in church.  It took me a little work to get up the gumption to doing it. I realized that *“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Phil. 4:13 and went ahead with setting it up for Father’s day of that year.  And, I DID IT!  I got up in front of our entire congregation on Sunday morning and I had another showing of God’s healing power in my life.  I looked out into that congregation and saw many people smiling back at me.  I saw the people instead of heads flying at me!  HALLELUJAH & PRAISE THE LORD!

And, I have spoken in front of the congregation a couple of times since that day! I continue to move forward on a daily basis with the Lord!  He is the strength of my life.  I know that with Him, all that He places before me, I can do because of:

*Mark 9:23 “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

*Mark 10:27 “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.””

UPDATE 2013:  I am still learning & growing without fear!  I continually thank and praise the Lord with each new place that I visit alone (which I never did growing up or even as an adult).  And, it gets easier and easier.  I believe that God showed me that I am healed of fear and now it’s up to me to believe it and step out in FAITH with God!  I can do all things!

    And, I just believe that I’m supposed to share one of my favorite songs with you today…please enjoy this video:

All I Have to do is Ask - 2010 - PLUS 2012 UPDATE

I was sent a devotional by a friend this morning that opened my eyes (yet again). It primarily talked about how we doubt God’s power and forget to ask for what He’s promised to us. To explain: I’ve been copying old writings into my blog to get them saved somewhere besides my home computer. I’ve been doing this for quite some time so that I’ve relieved myself of the responsibility of doing a whole lot of writing from scratch. A few days ago I finished copying the last of them (at least of what I’ve found so far) and immediately I thought “oh, no. This means I have to start writing again”. So I’ve had this in the back of my mind, or I guess it’s been the Holy Spirit urging me to just do it; to just sit down and write. Then I saw the devotional and I knew it, it couldn’t wait any longer, so here I am writing and praying for God’s power, for His words to flow through my fingers! I looked above my desk to a list of scriptures hanging there and see “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5, 6.

The Holy Spirit has been speaking to me, moving through me. If you are reading this right now, yes this is partially about you. I believe He has given me a ministry to these precious friends on Facebook. Sunday in church as we took communion our pastor told us to ask God to show us someone we were to reach for Him and I heard in that still small voice, “the world”. In this vast reaching media of Facebook, God has allowed me to reach out to the world for Him. I am in awe of how He has increased my friends in number by nearly 1100 in just 3 short weeks. My blog is now reaching out to almost 50 people and I have yet to invite all my friends to read it as yet. Not to mention that my fan page is also nearing 600. This is all just too much for me to have done alone. I have no doubt that I followed the instruction of the Holy Spirit to start requesting friendships of artists/art related people. And, now, I know that He has given me the part of reaching out to these friends for Him. All encompassing, once again, Proverbs 3:5, 6. I truly didn’t have a clue how big this was going to be, and it’s still growing day by day.

A month or so ago I prayed for motivation. I was having trouble feeling like writing, doing my artwork, exercising, and on and on. I have been so touched by all the sharing and compliments from these new friends that I’m now working on entering a contest with my artwork, here I am writing, and the motivation is nearly limitless! He truly knows what we need! And, most importantly, all we have to do is ask: Luke 11: 9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Hallelujah!

2012:
Oh my!  I had to share after reading this because God has increased these numbers to the point of nothing short of miraculous.  One of those things that is a definite 'God Sighting'.  My FB friends hover right around 5000.  The followers of this blog number 457.  And, at last look my fan page is at 1575.  Every time I take time to look at the numbers I'm in awe and have no idea what the future holds.  Just living it one day at a time!
